War of the Titans (Jessica vs. Kate)

Has anyone else checked out the recent drama-lama-ding-dong from Swimchick and Outspoken Kate? Jessica’s at it again, she posted a blog attacking Kate for stealing her tutorial idea and layout style. Right then, we all know Jessica is as stupid as they come, if you saw the parody there is no questioning that (if you didn’t then you can download the transcript here). However, Kate is not without blame as she has been just as stupid as Jessica in the past. Although I must say, her stupidity is usually legible unlike Jessica’s (thread where Kate failed at life). I ca not vouch for the fact that she is still the same though; it has been a while since I last had the privilege of talking to her.

Jessica’s argument is that Kate stole her style of ‘layouting’¹ (as I’m sure she [Jessica] would refer to it) and also stole the idea behind some of her tutorials. Jessica you so crazy, do you not know that there are many, many layout tutorials on the internets? Do not believe me, take a gander at the sites linked on Good Tutorials.com under their Web Layouts section, shmexy.

Although, I would like to thank you for defining clearly what you feel is theft. I say that because now I can notify the writers of this tutorial, this one and perhaps even this one, thieves should be punished, even if they are holier than thou dinks like yourself.

Because you see Jessica, you did not come up with “gummy text”, the “angel effect” or any of the other “effects” you so happily pop out every few months so you can hear how wonderful you are. You learned those effects from other tutorials on different websites, and after learning you decided to share your vast wealth of knowledge with the people who visit your website. When it comes down to it, you do not hold any more claim to your tutorials than Kate, or even Jem, does to hers. Nothing on the internet is original anymore.

Jess, sweetie only a farting orangutan would want to write like you do, and it would probably be a very, very stupid farting orangutan because you are a horrible writer. Come on now, you don’t honestly believe that you are the better writer, do you?

I hate to say it but I’m siding with Kate on this one, while her layouts do resemble Jessica’s (or Jessica’s resemble Kate’s, I’m not sure which) she most certainly isn’t the only one to slap a blend on top of a two column layout; she also isn’t the only one who has used headers with a background. Granted it is not the best layout style in the world (in fact, in my opinion those particular layouts are murder on any sane persons eyes), but it’s not copyright to any one person, and by person I, of course, mean Jessica. Plus Kate can speak English whereas Jessica only has a middling grasp on the language she writes in.

However, I do feel for you Jessica I really do it must be hard being you, so that’s why I’m going to help you out! Yes, you heard me, help you out. What I’m going to do is give you links to some sites that I feel you should bust for theft, after all it’s hard having everyone want to copy your greatness, is it not? So without further ado:

• Melon Burst - Obviously she stole this layout style from you, note the headers, SEO unfriendly and idiotic title and Cutenews powered blog. Darn thief! Bust her for it Jess, no mercy.

• behindherheart - No dumb as Jess title this time, sorry, but the headers and whatnot still look similar!

¹Theft, in Jessica’s book, means taking a tutorial that was already done elsewhere and writing a completely different version of it.

Forums, forums everywhere

As some of you may know Alex decided to shut down nu/mb for reasons that are unknown to the rest of the world. Fortunately for us there were people working on other boards to fill the void left by the mainly inactive nu/mb (hey, unlike some boards you rarely ever heard faux-ghetto). Sarai has been working on Erudite MB (look up the definition for it, it’s worth it) and Jacky is putting together a replacement for those of us who are too “snobby” to join the likes of Disaster MB. I, of course, use the term snobby loosely because I am pretty well fed up with DMB as of late.

Erudite MB is currently up and running, the yet-to-be named nu/nu/mb is currently only in test mode. Jacky can be quoted saying:

I don’t think I’ll use XMB for the “final” forum… I think I’m going to go with SM. So if I can find the smilies, sure, but otherwise…

Depending on your taste either board is a good choice (and I’m not just saying that because Sarai made me an admin, take that DMB staffers!). Although I predict EMB will most likely become a hangout for DMB’rs who are fed up with the incessant drone of idiotic topics and Unnamed MB will be a hangout for those eschew DMB-esque boards.

More E-mail Fun

I don’t see any point in posting what Paola has already posted. If you’ve read her blog you’ll understand the situation fully.

This is an e-mail I sent to the owner of Deep South Boards. I’ll update if I get a response from her.

Hi, my name is Becky and I was recently banned from your message board. Perhaps it was because I used English or perhaps it was that I took a dislike to the amazing Ladired (is that that things username?). I’m not exactly sure why you banned me, was it because I’m connected to the people who helped raise the overall IQ of the MB to 0? Whatever it was I would appreciate it if you told me.

I was told that the owner was mad over people flooding the board. What exactly did you expect from spamming people and begging them to join your board? Hugs and kisses? lol if you don’t want people to make fun of you I’d recommend just shooting yourself, you’ve made yourself and your board a complete and total laughingstock in several communities. My advice: Next time you decide spamming is a good way to get members spam people like yourself (people who do nothing other than fuck and go to church). Don’t spam people who don’t abuse the English language and have different viewpoints.

Now, I’m feeling a little left out because, as you probably already know, Turks hacked my site and you and your ‘p33ps’ (is that the correct terminology? I’m sorry, I don’t speak faux-ghetto) couldn’t leave comments on my site. “Ya’ll” left comments on all my friends site and I’m a little sad I didn’t get a comment *sniffs* You can leave me a comment via becks.wordpress.com

Letter to Pixelfx

I was browsing around my own StumbleUpon account (which you can find here if you’re interested: WTFBitca @ StumbleUpon) and came across Pixelfx.org. If you haven’t had your head in a hole you’ll know this site. It’s one of the crappiest tutorial sites on the net. I say that in all seriousness, it is one of the crappiest tutorial sites on the net. Don’t believe me? Read Jem’s review of it, Review: Pixelfx.org. I saw that it was updated and the owner had more some more promises of revamping it. Me being the evil little devil I am I had to comment and ask some pressing questions.

When you start revamping are you going to bring the tutorials up to an acceptable standard? There are many deprecated codes and such in the tutorials. Also will you be removing the scripts and that you did not write for download? If you hire staffers are you going to make sure that their standards are above those that this site has set?

I’m only asking because this site is foremost on a lot of lists for quality tutorial sites. I completely disagree with that and see this site as a place perpetuating bad ideas. However I’d like to see it redone in a better way so that those who use it can actually learn as opposed to… well I’m not really sure what to call the opposite. Either that or have the place closed down, after all there have been promises of revamping before and nothing has come of it.

Of course I had to spaz and mess up the URL to this place, I put .org instead of .com. In the interest of not being anonymous and admitting to my mistake I posted another comment explaining it and hopefully it won’t be jumped upon in order to forget, and not address, my original comment.

Now the biggest question of all: Will it be deleted or will it be replied to? Until she sees it no one knows. I’m leaning towards the former instead of the latter though. She seems like the kind of person who would delete a comment just because it wasn’t what she wanted.

Fucking Firefox Extensions

I’m so mad right now, I spent three hours trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with my Firefox. I couldn’t install any extensions or themes. So after digging out some advice that said to simply delete my profile I backed everything up and created a new one. Immediately I tested it out and I could install extensions! Yay, but my joy was not long lived.

By then I’d figured out that it was an extension, so I started to uninstall them one by one (disabling didn’t work). I found out that it was my beloved SessionSaver. Now every time I want to install something I have to uninstall it for it to work!

Talk about three hours wasted.
